About the Blog

DSC02783My writing will focus on my decision to move abroad for an extended amount of time; race; and my chosen profession—education. As the daughter of an (im)migrant and a US citizen, (im)migration, race, ethnicity, culture, and education play a large role in who I am. Thus, they will play a large role in this blog. Now in my fourth year abroad (2016-2017 school year), the blog will also focus on my travels as a way to inspire other people, particularly people of color, to travel too. The collages former students did about their family’s (im)migratory history (thanks to NEH and The University of South Carolina’s History Department for teaching myself and other educators about The Great Migration and how to do projects such as these) touch on some or all of these topics.

    • Thanks for sending. I just posted the link to my blog. The visual nature of the widget isn’t appearing for some reason, but the link works. I’m going to write a post soon about the importance of voting–especially for historically disenfranchised communities. Thanks again!
